Area around Siena
March 30th-31st

Luscious Landscape of the Crete Senesi
My apologies for the delay in posting – my internet has been shoddy for the past few days. Fortunately, I’ve had vistas such as these to remind me there is oh, so much more, to be appreciated, than what’s found on your computer screen. Apologies to those stuck in the office right now. Between properties, I drove around this area surrounding Siena, known as the Crete Sinese.

These greens are for real
Its wonderful, rolling hills and craggy rock faces are reminiscent of England, but the colors and endless vistas dotted with stone and brick farmhouses are 100% Tuscany. The area is known for its piggies and their yummy meat. I drove by a truck of them and tried not to think about their certain fate, just thanked them for their service. The roads are typically windy and require lots of shifting (my current calf workout) but, the continuous views are well worth it. My upcoming story will include restaurants and sites to see along the way.

Referred to as the "lunar route' given its moonlike appearance
I figure, I should clue you all into what it is I am driving myself and my belly around in. You’d think, being the size that I am these days, I’d require a big ol’ station wagon ala Griswald. Nope. I’ve got the Gialla Panda (Yellow Panda) as my chariot and so far, so good.

This pic above is actually on the Chianti route (that post to come soon)
