April 2013

This April I was invited by the Robertson family to visit their spectacular trio of lodges in New Zealand. A top slot on my travel bucket list, New Zealand has always held a certain mystique over me. Blame it on the dreamy scenery, the cheerful and disarming accent of her natives or her adventure-laden topography – it is the home of bungee jumping, after all. Wait, I didn’t even mention the wine, which is fast becoming the world’s favorite Sauvignon Blanc region Pokies. Clearly the reasons to go to New Zealand are many and for those who enjoy outdoor pursuits, an absolute must. Usually when expectations are high there is an inevitable disappointment lurking somewhere in the trip. I am thrilled to declare that NZ didn’t once let me down, not even in the rain. I’m already clamoring for a return.

Individual hotel reviews and some personal anecdotes on the Robertson’s three lodges: Matakauri Lodge, Kauri Cliffs and The Farm at Cape Kidnappers, to come. Stay Tuned.
